WAYS OF DOING THINGS...in gr.6 imm.
WAYS OF LEARNING....
In the classroom this year again, we will use common stationery items and students will not have a personal desk to keep their belongings. This is more and more the way in many classes at St.James and it is part of the new Flexible and Vertical Learning philosophy the school board is promoting. This will simplifies the class management (no one touching their partner's desk stuff, no playing with toys during lessons, no doodling and writing on desks, etc) and, a big plus, not having to constantly look for pencils, erasers and others needed items during the year. This will help with ACTIVE LISTENING (listening to learn) in the French immersion class .
All students will have to be on board. Personal pencil case and agenda are to be kept in backpacks. EACH STUDENT IS ASKED TO HAVE A SPARE PENCIL ALWAYS READY IN THEIR SCHOOL BAG. They will sometimes be allowed to use their own crayons for art or science projects. French binders and/or duotangs will be kept in the classroom and go home to finish incomplete work and/or to study before a test.
**This said, all the stationery items will have to be refilled at times. Here is where you can HELP!! I will write on the DATES IMPORTANTES page what we will need at the moment.
1. Please remember that indoor shoes are mandatory inside the classroom and the school. Your child should have a pair at all times. It will help us keep our classroom clean and tidy.
2. Each gr.6 student is asked to bring a 2" BINDER and dividers...all their copies and work will be kept in the same binder this year. Getting ready for high school!!
3. Each student is asked to bring a box of Kleenex to the classroom...this should help us get through the winter(-:
Merci beaucoup!
4. If any of you is interested in volunteering in the classroom to practice "your French", or on special outings or activities, please let me know. It is always nice and good for students to see their own parents taking risks speaking another language.(-:
