Salut toi! Bonjour à tes parents! As-tu passé un bel été? As-tu beaucoup jouer dans l'eau à la piscine ou au chalet? Moi, oui!!!
For those of you who are new to my classroom this year, let me tell you about myself. I have been teaching at St.James for more than 20 years. In case you were wondering, "Yes! I only speak French in the classroom!!". I enjoy working with older students, helping them to become more independent, organized and active learners...all this in French! ES-TU PRÊT(E)?
I strongly believe in being a French role model and as I teach the French language, I will also try to "share" its culture with you. A culture includes the arts, literature, some specific expressions, customs and the humor found in many "Francophone" communities in Canada...TU VAS ADORER LES EXPRESSIONS CETTE ANNÉE ET OUI! ON CONTINUE L'IMPROV!
Gang! I have high expectations for YOU: first as a person and then as a student: Respect for oneself and others, and acceptance of everyone for who they are. I hope we all represent Christian values and that I will see them shining through YOU AND YOUR CLASSMATES in the classroom this year.
Teamwork (comme lorsque tu joues au hockey!), the ability and willingness to collaborate and to cooperate with others are most important. Everyone will learn from others. To be successful, you have to be willing to take risks and SPEAK French. I can teach you French but I CANNOT speak for you: I know you can AND will do it!!
September will be an adaptation period for you and I. We will get to know each other. A language is alive and strong if we manage to communicate with others in that language. Therefore, expressing oneself in French (even if some words are in English at first) in the classroom will be highly rewarding and empowering for YOU ... Trying is important and mistakes are not... we learn from them. (-: SOIS UN CHAMPION! SOIS UNE CHAMPIONNE! PARLE FRANÇAIS!!!
I am confident that 2018-19 will be a year of growth for YOU AND MYSELF. I know that each of you will teach me something and I sincerely hope that YOU will learn a few things from me as well.....
Looking forward to meeting your parents at Program Night,
Madame Roy (-:
